How to set up a second screen or projector for Bible verses

Getting scripture onto the big screen comes down to one thing Windows makes easy but churches often get wrong: sending your presentation to a second display without mirroring your whole desktop onto it. Here's how to do it cleanly.

Extend, don't duplicate

Windows offers two multi-screen modes, and the choice matters:

Duplicate shows your entire desktop — taskbar, mouse and all — on the projector. The congregation sees your clutter. Avoid this.
Extend makes the projector a separate space. You keep your controls on the laptop and send only the finished output to the big screen. This is what you want.

On Windows, press Win + P and choose Extend. Then send just your presentation output to that second display.

Choose the right display as output

Once you're extended, your presentation software (including TajiCast's full-screen output) lets you pick which display to fill. Point it at the projector/TV, not your laptop screen. Keep your control window on the laptop so you can drive things privately.

Match resolution and aspect ratio

Black bars and stretched text usually come from a mismatch here.

Set the projector to its native resolution in Windows display settings — not a lower one.
Match aspect ratio — most modern projectors and TVs are 16:9. Feeding a 4:3 output to a 16:9 screen (or vice versa) causes bars or distortion.
Design for readability — large text, high contrast, and enough margin that nothing important sits at the very edge (projectors sometimes crop).

Projector vs TV vs LED wall

Projector — big and affordable, but washes out in bright rooms; darker text on light backgrounds can be hard to read. Aim for strong contrast.
Flat-screen TV — bright and crisp for smaller rooms; cheaper than you'd expect for the clarity.
LED wall — brilliant in any light but a bigger investment; make sure your output resolution suits it.

Test it with real content

Before the service, put an actual verse on the big screen and walk to the back row. Can the person in the last seat read it comfortably? If not, increase the text size or contrast until they can. That back-row check is the only test that matters.
